Kumki
Kumki
Kumki is the Tamil Indian name for a captive and trained Indian elephant. These magnificent animals are mostly used for the taming and training of newly captured wild elephants and also to lead away wild elephants that stray into human settlements. Kumki are also used for breeding purposes.
Kumki is not the same elephant that is widely found in Indian temples. An elephant has to undergo extensive rigorous training before it can become a Kumki.
